Catch Up

It all started with the celebration of "D-DAY" (that's what we lovingly refer to the day Brent's dad died as . We get together and do fun family nights) I can't believe it's been 5 years!

How we miss him!

He was such a good dad to his kids, husband to his wife and how he loved his little grandson soooooo much!!!!!!

I didn't get to know Papa Ramey as long as I should have, but the minute I met him, I knew he was fantastic! I met him the week he got his melanoma removed from his arm- we bonded over chocolate donuts and open wounds. Brent and I dated and got engaged really fast, and in a nut shell, got unengaged fast too- yes, all my fault.

I remember when Brent and I got back together, I was moving into his grandmas' basement and Dad Ramey came walking out the garage and just grabbed me and gave me a big hug and started crying, then he pulled me back, and said "I knew you'd come back." He always loved me, and I loved him!

He was ECSTATIC to become a grandpa. The day we found out we were having a boy, he stopped on his way home from work, pulled off the freeway in some random parking lot to meet us just so he could see the ultra sound pictures. It was so cute! He was so excited. After Max was born, he'd just sit and hold him on the couch and cry....it broke my heart. But I'm so grateful that he was able to hold him. He loved him so much, and it broke his heart knowing he wasn't going to be around to watch him grow. (or to see his other grandkids here)

He always came home, stuck his bags on the table, and went straight to his beloved wife- then they'd kiss about 10 times. Every day- without fail- he loved her so much, and I loved watching them love each other! Such an example.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one he'd suffer through Country Music Television with. He was home sick, and I was there waiting for Brent on many occasions, and he hated country music so much that he'd blocked the stations from the T.V, but he and I would sit in the kitchen talking and I'd hav CMT on in the background- that's true daughter-in-law love!

At our reception we danced- and I mean danced- we were hoppin! It was so fun! I really loved our lil bond! I wish he was still here to share the moments with. But I'm so grateful that we'll be able to be with him again!!!! Can't wait for him to play with his grandkids in real life!

the night started off with Wendy's- one of Dad's favorite spots.

then we decided to go bowling- not especially cuz dad loved it- but because we'd never gone as a family before......

Sounds like you at a great relationship with Brent's dad. We're lucky when we get good in-laws.

Conli is the perfect little princess. My only question is does she always act like one?

I had to come back to this so I could see what I was writing. (It's still a bit blurry.) I loved Uncle John and I miss him! I have a ton of amazing memories of him and the family. You're lucky to be a part of it! Thanks for writing about "D Day". I know he loves watching you guys from above!
